Tangled Review & Miscellany Things

 *warning: spoiler*
Plot: An elderly witch named Gothel witnesses a single drop of pure sunlight hit the ground, creating a magical flower with the ability to keep anyone young when a certain song is sung to it. Centuries later, the queen of a nearby kingdom falls ill while expecting a child. Her guards find the mysterious flower, which heals the queen and she gives birth to a girl named Rapunzel. Gothel learns that Rapunzel's golden hair retains the flower's healing abilities as long as it isn't cut, so she kidnaps the child and isolates her in a tower, raising the girl as her own daughter. However, every year on Rapunzel's birthday, the kingdom sends thousands of sky lanterns floating into the sky, longing for their lost princess to return.

Eighteen years later Rapunzel asks Gothel to let her see the floating lights on her birthday, but Gothel denies her request, saying the world is full of people who would covet her abilities for themselves. Meanwhile, thieves led by Flynn Rider, steal the tiara of the missing princess from the castle. Flynn abandons his accomplices and stumbles upon Rapunzel's tower, choosing it as a hideout. Rapunzel knocks him unconscious with a frying pan, and hides him in a wardrobe. She finds the satchel with the tiara and hides it. Rapunzel decides to keep Flynn a secret and not tell Gothel about him. Instead, Rapunzel tells Gothel that she wants a special paint for her birthday which will take three days to get and once Gothel leaves, Rapunzel makes a deal with Flynn — if he escorts her to the lights and back, she will return the tiara.

Gothel learns that Rapunzel has snuck out of the tower and goes off to find her. That evening while Flynn gathers firewood, Gothel secretly meets with and gives the satchel to Rapunzel, who tells Gothel she thinks she and Flynn may be falling in love. Gothel scorns her and says he is only after the tiara, and that Rapunzel should give it to him as a test.

The next night, while watching the floating lights, Rapunzel gives Flynn the tiara, but he realizes as they watch the lanterns that it's Rapunzel he wants. Suddenly Flynn sees his former accomplices and attempts to give them the tiara, but the pair are now working with Gothel. They make it appear that Flynn is escaping with the tiara, and Gothel, betraying the thieves, "rescues" the heartbroken Rapunzel and takes her back to the tower. Flynn, sentenced to be hanged for his crimes, learns of the treachery from the captured henchmen. Friends that Rapunzel and Flynn had met along the way help him get back to Rapunzel's tower.
Meanwhile, Rapunzel realizes that she is actually the long-lost princess and she confronts Gothel with the revelation. Flynn reaches the tower, but upon entering, he sees the bound Rapunzel and is stabbed by Gothel. Rapunzel pledges to willingly remain with Gothel forever if she can heal Flynn's wounds. Gothel agrees. When Rapunzel reaches Flynn, he attempts to stop her from healing him saying that he doesn't want her to be trapped forever...

I thought this was a really cute movie! It was funny, sweet, sad, happy and made me wanna sing. :) I loved it! I think Rapunzel is my new favorite Disney princess. :) This is a great movie for the old and the young. As you all know I have a crush on Flynn. ^_^ His character is so charming. And the smolder gets me every time. ;)

It really was a good movie (not just because of Flynn) and that means a lot coming from me. I don't usually care much for animated movies. If I had to pick one word to describe Tangled it would be: cute. ^_^ Definitely a must-see!

Have you seen this movie? If so, what did you think about it?

I hope everyone is having a great week so far and that you had a wonderful Christmas! I know I did. :) Today my dad went for his second treatment of Tysabri. He gets his infusions every four weeks, so he won't get another one 'til January. As far as I could tell, he was doing pretty good when he got home. *thumbs up* :)

Narthea's 18th birthday is this Friday, New Years Eve. We're so excited for her! She will be taking her last drive with her permit, on Friday, because next Monday she will go take the test to get her license! I'm sure she'll pass. She's a very good driver. :)

What are some of your favorite gifts you got for Christmas? My favorites are Inception (eep!), the Super Mario Brothers Wii game, and The Last Olympian (now all I need to do is buy The Lost Hero. I hear it's great!) :D

Well, I hope you enjoyed the review and my randomness. :) G'night bloggy buddies. I am off to watch episodes from the first season of 24 (a tv show). Yes, if you're wondering, the show did stop airing, but Narthea just got the complete first season on DVD for Christmas! Eeeep! :D Ta-ta for now.

I really want to see Tangled! My mom, sister, and I might just have to make a girl's night of it and go see it in theaters. ;)

Some of my favorite Christmas presents are: my iPod dock, new boots, a hat that looks like a moose and has antlers and everything, and money. :)

Hope you had a great Christmas!

Yep, I loved this movie too, Eldarwen! Definitely a new favorite of mine. :)

Oh, you got Inception? Yay! I really want to see that again... we have it on our Netflix queue, but it won't be released on there till next month. I can't wait though! :)

My favorite Christmas gift? An mp3 player. I love it so much. ;) I've been loading tons of songs onto it over the past couple of days, and I'm liking it a whole lot better than my CD player. LOL! :D

I'm so glad to hear that your dad is doing well. That's wonderful - praise the Lord!! :)

I've been wanting to see that! I'm not one for animated films either, but when I think I see a good one, I usually go out and watch it. :) (Flynn IS funny. "And now, the smolder." I laughed out loud in a silent theater at that preview.)

Glad things are going well with you!

I've gotten to see it twice now, and I totally agree: Repunzal is my new princess fave. LOL
Did anyone else notice that the (SPOILER) lantern that the king and queen send off is the only one with the sun crest on the side, and that the one Repunzel rescues from falling into the water is (dramatic music) the same lantern? SOOOO sweet. And when the king cries, I tear up. Every time.
Yeah, anyway...I loved the movie, in case you couldn't tell. :)
