one man and one woman

Let me just say ahead of time that this is my blog and even though you may disagree, I have the right to say whatever I feel led to say about the following subject, because it's my blog, so it's my right. :)

Some of you may or may not have noticed, but I have recently added a new picture to my right sidebar. It is an anti-homosexuality button made by my lovely, dear friend Bleah. I thought that I would share with you why I am strongly against homosexuality.

God does not agree with it.
I am a Christian and I strive to please God, and learn more about Him every day. This is one of the many things I've learned: God does not agree with homosexuality. So, being a Christian, I don't either. To tell you the truth, even if I wasn't a Christian, I would still be against this.
God clearly says in Leviticus 18:22, "Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable." So there ya have it. Plain and simple. Homosexuality is wrong.

One argument concerning this subject is: "You can be a Christian and still believe that homosexuality is okay."
Uh, no. If this is what you believe, you are wrong. If God CLEARLY says not to do this, then how can you support it if you're a Christian? Some people say, "Well, as long as they're happy and they love each other, it's okay," but this doesn't even make sense.
Okay, so if I think murdering someone is fun and I find great pleasure in it, does that make it okay? Absolutely not! So why should homosexuality be any different? (Some people on other blogs said that it wasn't fair to compare homosexuality to murder, but John 3:4-5 says, "Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness." Homosexuality and murder are both sins, so there. Sin is sin, peeps.)
When people say they're Christians and also say that being gay is okay, it's like they're saying you only have to obey some of God's commandments, and you can ignore the rest if you please. As I said in a comment on someone's blog, about this same subject, you cannot be a half-way Christian, because there is no such thing as a half-way Christian. You're either a Christian-all-the-way, or you're not a Christian. If you look up what the definition of a Christian is, you will most likely find something said similar to this: "One who professes belief in the teachings of Jesus Christ." Jesus does not teach that homosexuality is okay, neither does God, so if you're a true Christian, you will disagree with it.
Here, again, in Leviticus 20:13 God says, "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."

Now another argument is, "God loves homosexuals, because if He didn't, then why would He create them and make them that way?"
First off, God does not make someone homosexual. They choose to be that way, whether you choose to believe that or not. God hates sin, so why would he create a homosexual person, considering that He says in His Written Word that it is a sin? Sin is of the devil (hence: the devil is the prince of thieves and God is the Prince of Peace). God did not create sin, He allowed sin to enter this world
And it's not like God allowed sin to enter the world and couldn't care less about our eternal souls. Hello! He gave us Jesus for cryin out loud! He also gave us the Bible which is full of commandments that make us aware of our sin. You have a choice: sin, or Jesus. God loves homosexuals, but that does not mean he loves their homosexuality. He loves the person, but despises their sin.

"For although they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to Him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.
"Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
"Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion." ~Romans 1:21-27~

I'm a Christian, and I am against homosexuality....

I'm prepared to loose followers over this, even all of them, because as my friend Elizabeth @ Living On Literary Lane stated on her blog, "For what am I if I prize followers over His Word and His will?"

{If you agree, you may take anti-homosexuality button, as well.} :)

Oh thank you so much Eldarwen for postng about this highly controversial topic! I totally agree w/ you on every point! You go girl :D

I'm going to try to be civil about this, but you DON'T get too choose. It's the way your born, but you wouldn't understand becuqse you are not gay and neither are any of your friends. Why would someone choose to be a homosexual knowing how much they'll get teased, and the number of opportunities they might miss?

I won't stop following though, because I enjoy MOST of the blog. I'm just going to disagree a lot.

Amen Eldarwen AMEN!!!!! BRAVO for standing up for what is right! Last election, when Prop 8 was being voted on, I stood on popular corners with a lot of other Christians with signs to encourage people to vote against gay marraige!!! What a great post!

Thank you for standing up for the Truth!

With ya all the way, sista! You put into words my thoughts and feelings on the matter that I myself could not. Here's another verse:
Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders no thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Cor. 6:9-10

Great post and great points!
-Gwyn
p.s. A lot of people argue that Christians should be more tolerant of gays, etc... But who says tolerance is always a good thing anyway?

I can not follow someone who is so close-minded and close-hearted. And is so cruel to something a person can not choose.

I AM Christian, and I am getting confirmed. So don't say what I am or not.

I completely and fully agree, Eldarwen. Would you mind if I copied you, and did a post on this same subject regarding my (same as yours) opinion?

Thanks for doing this post, girly! I really appreciate your standing up for what you believe in.

I am definitely still going to follow you because you are totally right. Especially I agree with the fact that people choose to be homosexual. A lot of people think otherwise these days about that.
I would take the button if I had a blog...I will take it if I ever get one. (-:
Thank you for speaking out about this. We need more people like you in the world.

I think that homesexuality is going against God's Word and is a terrible sin.
It makes me sad when I see people who call themselves Christians supporting gay rights. Homosexuality is not like being a certain color or gender, it is a deliberate choice one makes, usually the end result of many such choices. In the end it may seem like something you just are, but it did not start that way. Besides this the Bible is clear that all of us are born with an inborn desire to sin. It is called original sin. If you're a Christian and believe in gay rights then you must also believe in Judgement Day.

Imagine, thinking to yourself that you've followed Jesus as His faithful disciple on earth, and are expecting to be admitted into heaven. But Jesus looks at you and says, "Away from me, for you are not a child of mine. A child of mine will follow me unconditionally, but you follow me only partly. Then you find yourself in the terrible realms of Hell. Tortured with physical and mental agony. and all because you picked what part of God's Word you followed and left the rest.

Judgement Day will come. Will you be prepared for it? As Matthew 4:17 says, "Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand."
Will you repent before its too late? The Judge that day will not be your peers, teachers or political leaders! He will be the very author of the book you treated so slightly. We all have those sins we find difficult to deal with. But the solution is not to deny their sinfulness but to repent and believe on Jesus as our Savior and Lord.

It makes me sad to see people so willing to believe "scientific research" over God's Word. Thanks for proclaiming His truth!

As someone in an earlier comment put very nicely, we should not tolerate.

No, we should accept.

I am not so-called 'half-Christian'. I am straight, I am a proud, confirmed, member of a Christian church.

But, if I was to turn on GLBT people, beautiful wonders of God's creation, just like you and me, then I would be going against what my church preaches, against what I strongly believe in, and even against members of my own family, and close family friends.

One couple that is very close to our family have been together for 30 years, and they can't be married! Why do we deny people this love? Many marriages don't last that long.

But this is your blog your right, just as I stated in my post. I know I can't sway you, but read this post and especially watch the video on this blog post done by my pastor. The video makes some good remarks about bible passages too.

http://impossiblethingswithgod.blogspot.com/2010/10/were-not-straight.html

Eldarwen, quite frankly, this whole thing makes me very very sad. You were one of my best blogging friends. You left nice comments on my blog as I did on yours. We emailed and IM'd. And then you left those awful, terrible, hurtful comments on my blog. Yes, the ones you quoted above.
You know who this is now, don't you?
Well, those comments hurt. But I'm a Christian, and I forgive.

I forgive you Eldarwen.
Can't you do the same?

I'd appreciate a reply to this comment. I really want to know what you thought of that video, etc...

I'll be checking.

blessings to you and prayers for your dad.

AMEN AMEN AMEN! Infinity and beyond AMENS on this post. I agree with you 100% girlfriend. I recently came from someone's blog as well (not naming names) who said she was a Christian but was for gay rights. Funny thing is too, the whole 'born this way' thing has been on my mind the last couple of days; and I have been pondering EXACT things from this post in my head. You are 100% correct in saying "How can you be Christian if you believe in this?" I was Amen-ing in my head all the way through this post. Good for you for posting it!

Once again....

AMEN!!!

I completely agree that homosexuality is wrong, thank you for taking a stand no matter what. You may loose followers but you just gained one more. :)

Anonymous, yes, I know who you are. I'm sorry if the comment(s) I left on your blog hurt your feelings, but they were not aweful, or terrible. They might seem that way to you, because you disagree with what I said. I do love you and I'm not mad at you, so I hope you are not thinking that. I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings, I never meant to do that. However, I won't apologize for standing up for what is right.

God bless!

Thank you for posting this!!!!!!!!!! You go, girl!!!!! I am very anti homosexuality (and, on another hand, anti abortion). I think i will post my reasons for being anti-homosexual on my blog shortly.

Oh, one more thing...a couple commenters said they were Christians but still supported it. It makes me curious: what do u, commenters, think it means to be a Christian? Because it certainly isnt going to church or doing something physical.....its repenting and believing:)!
