Lindsay and Keilah both recently posted about baking Chocolate Chip Cookies. Mom bought us some Organic Chocolate Chips, so that Caldirwen, Esara, Narthea and I could have some sort of sweet treat. :) I decided, after reading both their posts and almost drooling all over everything, to make some chocolate cookies myself. :) I took some pictures along the way, and figured I'd share them with ya. Esara and Caldirwen joined me. :)
Our supplies:
. two measuring cups (for the dry and wet ingredients)
. electric mixer and supplies (wisk things)
. wooden spoon (just in case)
. class bowl
. measuring spoons
Of course, you need the recipe:
Our ingredients:
. organic sugar
. organic light brown sugar
. organic bread flour (it's the only kind of flour we had:)
. organic, unsalted butter
. our farm fresh eggs (yep, hatched right in our backyard:)
. organic chocolate chips
. baking soda (yeah, that ingredient isn't organic, because we have yet to find organic baking soda, and that's all that we had in the cabinet.)
First, let's melt the butter.
Then, pour it into the bowl.
Now we add half the amount of flour that the recipe calls for.
Putting the flour in the bowl.
Then we add the light brown sugar.
Then we add the light brown sugar.
Now the sugar.
Esara cracking an egg.
Esara cracking an egg.
Caldirwen cracking an egg.
Let's pour in the baking soda.
Let's pour in the baking soda.
Time to mix it all up.
We're gettin' there...
Ooh la la. Don't they just look darling lying on that oven rack in the 375(f) degree heat?
TA-DA!!!
Yep. See it and weep. Those are our homemade, healthy chocolate chip cookies, and, yes, they look just like "normal" ones. *crosses arms* :)
Here's the recipe...
1/2 cup shortening (we don't use this ingredient)
1/2 cup margarine or butter
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon of vanilla (though, we don't use that, 'cause it's not healthy)
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 12-ounce package (2 cups) of chocolate chips (though, we just eye-ball it *wink*)
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional. I mean, who wants to ruin perfectly good choc. chip cookies?)
Directions:
In a mixing bowl, combine the margarine or butter, half the amount of flour, the brown sugar, sugar, eggs, vanilla and baking soda. Beat mixture till thoroughly combined. Beat in the remaining flour. Stir in chocolate chips and, if desired, nuts.
Drop dough by rounded teaspoons 2 inches apart onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake in a 375(f) oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or till edges are lightly browned. Cool cookies on a wire rack. Makes about 24-28 cookies.
Lindsay, I would've used your recipe, but since we use healthy ingredients and such, it was just easier to stick to the recipe we've used for years. :) Thanks for sharing it with us, though! =D
Well, I'm off to n'joy my delicious chocolate chip cookies. ;) G'night!
Love you!

Love, Poppy :)
They look delicious! :)
Lindsay, okay, I'll get ya one right now. lol ;) Good! I'm glad that's okay. I wanted to use your recipe, but I had to change so many things about it (because of the ingredients we do and don't use) I figured it was just easier to use ours. :) But, I LOVE using new recipes! =D
Alexandra, oh yeah! I'm trying to get you to go bake some cookies! Is my evil plan working? *evil laugh* muahahahahahah! >:D
Poppy, ooh! Chocolate chip cookies and coffee! Sounds good! But, I can't have coffee anymore. Momma says it's not good for ya and it's very addictive. I don't care! It's DELICIOUS!! I like French Vanilla! Ooh! There I go drooling again. (lol jk) =D
Jenna, not only do they LOOK delicious, but they ARE delicious! =D

Hey Eldarwen,
I was just coming back to read comments, and my mouth is watering again! I NEED one. lol! =D
Oh yum! I LOVE Chocolate chip cookies! Have you ever used Sucanot instead of brown sugar? It works the same, but it much healthier.
Sorry I haven't been commenting often on here. I read every post though! :)
Oh, I have a movie quotes quiz going on on my blog, and since you've seen many of the same movies as I have, you might be able to get quite a few of them :)
Much love,
Jo
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want some!!!!
lol
Gwen
Lindsay, alright, alright. Say no more. Sending a cookie your way... (jk lol) =D
Jo, yes, we have Sucanot in our cabinet, but I don't like the taste of it. Yes, you're right. It *is* much healthier than brown sugar. :) That's okay! =D I'm heading over after this! ;D
Gwenea, okee dokee! =D

Oooh, they look so good. :) But the sad thing is I'm trying to get off sugar. :(
Shaynie, thanks! :) Oh, yeah! I've tried that before. It's tough. Especially when people [like me] post about sweets. Sorry.

First, they look delicious!
Second, does your family do all organic? That's really cool. Is it hard or super expensive? I'd love to do it, but I'm too cheap. ;/
Third, my husband would totally agree with you...walnuts would just ruin a perfectly good chocolate chip cookie! :)
Great post!
Melanie, yes, they were very good! Yes ma'am, we do all organic. :) My dad is sick and we're going on a healthy diet, in hopes that it will cure him. :) He has MS. It is very expensive to go all organic. We're BARELY, BARELY getting by, because my dad doesn't have a job right now, either. I know! Walnuts aren't very good. :)
