Percy Jackson And The Olympians...

...The Lightening Thief. Oh, wow! Okay, first of all, how many of you have read this book? Was it not amazing???

*WARNING: SPOILER. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK * :P

Wow, I don't think I've ever read a book so captivating! This book was awesome! "Awesome" is really a lame word to describe this book. It was better than awesome! lol =D I love Greek Mythology, though I've never really read a lot about it or really ever told many people that I love it. It's not like a "hobby" or anything, it's just one of those things (like math for some people) that you enjoy learning about or reading about. Rick Riordan did an amazing job in this book! The book is about Percy Jackson, a 12-year-old boy who is the son of the god Poseidon, though his mom is human. Percy is known as a half-blood, and he's not the only half-blood out there. Percy was always a "troubled" kid. He supposedly had ADHD and dyslexia and skipped from school to school, after being expelled. He, his mother and his friend, Grover (who is really a satyr in disguise, trying to protect Percy) get attacked by one of Hades creatures. Percy and Grover run to Half-Blood Hill, a "safe haven" for half-bloods. There, Percy finds out that he is the son of a god. Percy, Grover and Annabeth (another half-blood at the camp) get sent on a quest to find Zeus' master bolt that was stolen. Zeus suspects Percy, but Percy knows he didn't do it. Anyways, I'm not going to spoil the ending of the book for you, but I will tell you that this book is soooooo worth reading!!!! One thing that I liked that Chris and Ivorydancer mentioned is that I love how these books show how sinful these gods are. The writer doesn't try to make the gods out to be sinless, perfect gods. Overall, this book is probably my favorite book I've read in a long-o time! :) Really, it was that good! I am currently reading the second book The Sea of Monsters, but I haven't gotten very far into it, yet. :) I will post a review on that book as well when I am done with it. Also, I am going to post an update of my dad soon, but not in this post, I don't have time. :) I hope that after reading this you feel encouraged to go out and read the book yourself! If you have read this book, I'd love to hear what you think about it. Do you agree with me? Do you disagree? What's on your mind after reading my review? :)

Love,

{Hey I can comment! Yay!}
I just started reading those books too! Yes, I like them a lot too. I would say they're the BEST I've read, but they are indeed great fun to read. I really enjoy them. In fact, I just finished the third one this morning-- after I just got it yesterday from the library. lol ^_^ I was going to pick up all the rest while I was there{I knew one book wouldn't get me through a week!} but, because of the movie everybody else is checking them out too. So I'll just have to wait. Drat.

I'm wondering just what exactly they changed in the movie, since EVERYBODY is saying "they changed the plot completely!"

Percy Jackson is not one of my favorite books, though. There's something . . . I dunno, but it isn't. Maybe it's the style? I just can't connect with the characters all that much.

Okay, okay. I'm going to give in. I'm headed to Amazon right now to buy one for hopefully a penny, but even if its twelve bucks I think I'll buy it.
LoL but before I do, if the book in first person, second person, or third person? Sorry I'm weird that way, I won't read a firt person book. I have a hard time with that.

Yeah, these were GREAT. The sinfulness really is so true to the stories in 'History'. And also, yes, Greek Myth ROCKS. :D
