Gandalf battled with the balrog in FOTR. He was drug down and killed by this balrog. Gandalf gave his life in that moment to save Frodo. Frodo was small and powerless. He didn't deserve it. What good had he done?
Jesus Christ was murdered on a cross. He gave His life for us. He allowed the roman soldiers to nail Him to a cross. He knew it must be done in order to save our lives. But, we were/are vile sinners. We didn't deserve it. What good have we done?
Just when the fellowship believed Gandalf was dead, he came back. He was cleaner than ever. :)
Just when the disciples believed Jesus was gone forever, He rose back to life! He's alive, Today!
Just like Jesus, Gandalf gave his life for the ones he loved. They didn't deserve it. They had never done anything for him. No, he chose to. He could've easily ran away from the balrog. Jesus could've run away from the roman soldiers. He could've escaped, but he hung there on the cross, humbly. Just like when He was born, in a manger. He wasn't born in a huge palace with everything you could ever imagine [at that time]. He was born in a stable with animals, shepherds, and wise men (kings). I just thought I'd share that with y'all. I know most of you can clearly see that already, but it makes more sense to me when I can read it. :)

Thanks for that post. I like to reflect on stuff like that from time to time :D.
LOL thanks. We're not actually related, lol but we might as well be. Anywho, I'll check those links when I can. I can't right now though. Maybe later tonight. THANKS :) P.S. I can't wait to see what you do with the tag!
That's a really great comparison, Eldarwen!
Thanks for sharing that. :)

I've never heard it that way before, thanks!
I love stories that are analogies also. This was great!
Eldarwen, I'd like you to read what I posted here: http://thedaytodaywalk.blogspot.com/2009/11/here-lately.html
Yes, that was a great analogy that you posted...well thought out. However, you cannot compare a wizard (the Bible clearly speaks against them; I show a verse in my post I gave you) to Jesus, the Pure and Holy Son of God!!
That's pretty much all I'm going to say...the post I gave you will pretty much say the rest for me. :)
Love in Christ,

I was thinking about this exact thing when we were watched LotR just the other day!! I always feel like crying when I watch Gandolf 'die'. But I'm always glowing when they see him alive! :)
