God's Will

Many times in my life I get in a situation where I need to make an important decision. I think I can handle it myself, so I make my choice, and hope for the best. Most of the time when I do that, my choice ends up not being a very wise one. Why is that? I stop and think, "Okay, this seemed so right. What went wrong?" I didn't ask God what He wanted me to do, that's what. I thought I could take care of myself and I should be able to make a decision on my own. The truth is, I do have a decision to make: Whether to consult God and do His will, or consult myself and do my will.

You know, sometimes you're in a situation where you have to think fast and you say to yourself, "Hey, I don't have time to ask God," but that's not true. You can just stop and say, "God, whatever your will is, let me do it," and He will make sure His will is carried out.

See, what happens when we don't consult God is we start to lean away from Him. We may not realize it, but we start to think we can handle things ourselves, we can take care of ourselves and we're mature enough to make our own decisions, when in reality it doesn't matter how mature, or how old you are, you should always seek God's will. His will is perfect.
~Romans 12:2~ "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."

Even though it might not seem like it at the moment, in the end, God's will is really what's best for you. He doesn't want to put you in harms way, and He only wants what's best for you, so why not ask Him, and do His will?
~Jeremiah 29:11~ " 'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.' "

So if you're in a situation where you don't know what to do, I want to encourage you to take a moment and ask God what He wants you to do. No more thinking you can go it alone. And if God doesn't answer you right away, that's okay. Just wait. Be patient. He will be faithful.

Awesome post :). I totally agree...you shouldn't be afraid to let God take those handlebars of your life, and let him take control. He'll steer it in the right direction with all the answers he gives you.

Great post, Eldarwen!

It reminded me that though I may sometimes consult God, sometimes I just use that as an excuse to act the way I want. I tell myself, "Well, I asked God and then acted..." I need to remember to then listen for what He tells me. Listen and pray that I hear!

Blessings,
Rachel
