Movie Review

About 2 weeks ago Esara, Caldirwen, Narthea, Mom and I watched Night At The Museum Battle of the Smithsonian. I thought I'd do a review of it: I really liked how the director brought in new characters, but also kept the old. I was really hoping they wouldn't leave out Jedediah, because he's my favorite character. :) Though I liked having the old characters and the new, I did not enjoy the movie. First of all, I was totally creeped out by the fact that Larry Daley falls in love with one of the wax figures, Amelia Earhart. It's just odd. Then, there's Akmunrah's brother, Kamunrah. In one scene he keeps saying the Lord's name in vain over, over and over. I really can't stand to hear people say that, because I know it's wrong and it just sounds so terrible. Really. It's super tacky. Plus, he has this really annoying voice (that's just me) and that really turns me off, too. I know it's "just a character" and that the actor doesn't really talk like that, but it still doesn't sound "funny" or "cute". Another thing I didn't enjoy about the movie, was that Amelia Earhart was not wearing... modest clothing. Her pants were skin tight and the color of your skin and at first I thought she was not clothed. *yikes* But then I realized it was thin, skin colored, super tight pants. Yeah. If the director had clothed Mrs. Earheart, left out the love between human and wax figure, changed Kamunrah's voice and left out the cursing, it would've been a great movie. :) Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the really bad "D" word is mentioned 2 times in the movie. Another thing that really isn't that good. Anyway, if you asked me whether you should see it or not, I would definitely say: no. It was nothing like the first one and it's just not that great of a movie. So watch at your own risk. :) I know, this post was really... what's a good word for it... rude sounding?... but there isn't anything that I liked about the movie, except for what I mentioned in the beginning of this post. It wasn't a good movie. :/

I haven't heard from my parents today, so I don't know any results from any tests, or when they're coming home. Mom said she'd call today, but she hasn't yet. I can be patient though. :) Well, I better go do something with Esara and Caldirwen because they're fighting. I'll update y'all as soon as I get some news. :) PRAYER IS POWERFUL! Thank you for your prayer. :)

I remember seeing the first movie when it first came out, but I never saw the second one. Now I'm not so sure of I want to see it :) Great Review!

I didn't like that movie either... more prayer for your Dad.

Ashley said...

Yeah, the first movie was definitely better. Kahmunrah wasn't bad, but Amelia Earhart (sp?) go on my LAST. NERVE.
I understand the way she was clothed, because that was just the clothes she might have worn when she was alive, but seriously... Larry Daley falling in love with a WAX FIGURE????!!??! Disgusting. And she just kind of got on my nerves throughout the whole movie anyway... I guess it was how she followed him around all the time and was way too forward.

Great review, Eldarwen. I saw this movie and while I didn't like it as much as the first, except for the swearing and the whole thing with Larry falling in love with (hello) A WAX STATUE, I did like it. But the whole Amelia Larry thing does out a BIG damper on the movie.

As always your Dad is in my prayers.

Love in Christ,

nana

I watched it back in December and didn't think very highly of it either.

Kamunrah voice annoyed me so much... it was sorta brittish sorta Ihaveacoughdropinmymouth type of mixture.

I didn't like that they made Larry Daley fall in love with a wax figure... that disturbed me.

I think the movie would have been much better if they left out the cursing, the weird voice, the weird love relationship, and the tight clothes...

Any way thanks for the review!

In Christ,
Emily

Agreed; I found all that offensive as well.

(In addition, the story was not nearly as good.)

Wow, I saw that movie was on TV a couple of days ago and thought about watching it, but decided not to. I'm glad I didn't watch it! Oh my gosh, annoying voices just, so, annoying! Thanks for the review! :)

Love and hugs,
Haley

LOL
You did? I can't find you.

~Haley~
Yeah, when Esara, Caldirwen and I went to our friend's house for the week they kept trying to talk her into watching it on tv, but I was like, "nooooo!!!" lol =D Happy 15th birthday, dear friend! ;)

Thank you all for praying for my dad, and thanks for the comments! :)

I agree with you, although Kamunrah's voice isn't as annoying as Amelia Earhart... at least to me.
My brother even says "I have come back to life!" exactly like Kamunrah. I liked the first movie so much better - it's one of my favorite funny movies.

Eldarwen, on Treble Clef I have put your Dad in the prayer gadget. I hope that's OK

Yes, Amelia was really annoying, but I think I disliked Kamunrah more than her. *shivers* His voice has this... femanine side to it. Yuck!

~Cornet Crazie~
Of course I don't mind! PRAYER IS POWERFUL! ;)

I totally agree! Movies these days just aren't what they used to be....there are a few exceptions, but I really do prefer older ones! :)

Cassandra said...

I'll pray for your dad and I too did not enjoy the movie. I felt like it had absolutly no plot at all.

Me and Laurel bought it together because all our friends loved it and we like the first one...as soon as the credits started rolling I turned around and asked Laurel if I could have my money back. What a waste!
There were some really funny parts in it though...overall I thought they did barely OK. They could have done so much better, though.

Praying!

hugs,
Jillian

Oh I know! I love old movies, but I do have a few newer ones that are my fav. But, you're right, movies just aren't what they used to be. :)

~Cassie~
Thank you!
Exactly how I felt... :)

~Jillian~
Yes, we rented it from a video place in town and I was like, "That was so not worth the $1.50 cents." :)

LOL I thought the same thing!! Amelie was SO annoying. I could not stand her.. And her clothes. YUCK.

I loved the way Kamunrah talked! But I didn't like how he took the Lord's name in vain! And Amelia Earheart bugged me so much! Argh! I love Jedidiah and Octavious!

Pink Panther said...

Yeah, I thought that Amelian didn't have any pants on at first too! I was watching it with a friend, and when they first showed her, I screamed and covered my eyes!

Hannah said...

I feel the same as you. Skin tight pants and love was creepy. Talk to you later!

~Miss Grace~

P.S. how is your dad?

Josh $ said...

I heartily disagree. I would say Night at the Museum 2 was one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. Kamunrah's voice was like that because it was humorous. Seriously, people! Can't you guys watch a comedy, and laugh at it? Man...this movie was definitely not about the plot...duh. It's a comedy, for pete's sake! It's hilarious, and it was supposed to be. 5 stars...Alex, you rock. That movie is hilarious. Umm...and the Amelia Earhart clothed thing is overrated...she was wearing leather! So what? I mean, she was a pilot. Pilots wear leather....several stuff in your review you took too literally. Kamunrah was supposed to be funny...that's y is voice is like that. Wow, completely different views on this flick...

Josh
All the same, I know you have your opinion.

Eldarwen said...

Josh,
I know, it was supposed to be a comedy, but the first one had a plot, this one didn't. It threw me off. :) Plus, when I said I didn't like Kamunrah's voice, I did say that it's "just me and my opinion" and I didn't find it humorous. :) Yes, I know pilots wear leather, but if my parents saw me in something that tight... I'd be dead. Okay, not seriously "dead", but you know what I mean. lol =D Plus, they could've picked another color for her pants so that you wouldn't think she was un-clothed (when you first see her), but I think he (the director) did it on purpous, for that same reason, and that really turned me off too. :/ Hehe, "all the same, I know you have your opinion". ;)

Josh $ said...

Yeah. Sorry if I sounded a little angry :D I really like that movie, so it was a little odd to see a review from the other side of the fence. But yeah...sorry 'bout ma tone! XD And I did not notice the leather color thing at all...lol

Josh

Eldarwen said...

Josh,
Oh no, not at all! I didn't think you were being rude. :) Actually I just read my post and thought, "My goodness! I sounded kind o' stuck up". Sorry 'bout that. But, no, I never thought for a second that you were angry. :)

Josh $ said...

Now we're arguing about apologizing...lol! People that are reading this are probably laughing their heads off... XD

Eldarwen said...

We're arguing!? Oh, now I get it. You were appologizing begrudgingly. Ha! And to think... I follow your blog...*shakes head*. lol jk =D

{Seriously, I am just kidding.}

Taylor said...

Well I know that I'm laughing! LOL You guys are weird. And I mean that in a good way, if that's possible. LOL :)

Josh $ said...

ROTFLOLing. Eldarwen, are you SURE your seriouos? Lol...you don't look like the dog-star to me (SIRIUS [pronounced serious] satellite radio...their mascot is a dog with stars for his eyes). That's a really old joke, lol.
Aaaaand Taylor. I don't think that is possible...cuz, I mean, look at you!

XD jk!

Josh

Eldarwen said...

ROTFLOLing, too!!!! Yes, I am serious that I was just kidding. But what do you mean when you say I ain't the "dog-star"? Was that supposed to be a compliment and is that a good thing?!?! *crosses arms*

lol jk =D

Eldarwen said...

p.s.
Taylor,
what!?! You mean his weirdness is rubbing off on me?!?! *screams*

lol jk =D (and yes, seriously I am just kidding). =)

Eldarwen said...

p.s.s.
Josh,
please don't take that last comment the wrong way. =) I was just kidding. ;)

Taylor said...

Josh,
What do you mean, look at me? I know I'm a geek, but I didn't think it showed on my profile picture. LOL I think this is the weirdest conversation I have ever read.

Eldarwen said...

Taylor,
Yeah! Come on girlfriend, let's gang up on him! He wouldn't let me have three votes on his new poll! *sticks out tongue* :P How rude!!!

Taylor said...

Your kidding! I always vote several times on someone's poll! I'm going right over there and voting! I think he chickened out, I don't see any new comments from him. HIGH FIVE! LOL

Eldarwen said...

Yeah, you go girlfriend! We got 'im! Woohoo! =D I told you he was weird. Oh come on, Josh, don't you have a come back? Oh wait, I forgot... he's chicken! *makes chicken noise*

{lol jk} =D

Pink Panther said...

*makes chicken noise too* We got him now! He must not be here. Or, maybe he's just afraid! *walks like chicken* CSL ROTFL LOL

Josh $ said...

Ok, now I'm starting to feel scared.... =O XD
Fyi, the reason I don't reply to comments really fast is because I don't check every single hour, like some ppl do *cough*cough*! So there! lol...jk

And Evenstar, I'm more of a turkey rather than a chicken... :P lol!

Josh

Eldarwen said...

*gasp* Taylor, I think he just insulted us! :0 How dare him!

Okay Josh, I know the reason why you don't check it every hour... because you're a turkey! Hey, you said it! =P Wait, turkeys aren't afraid, they're stupid. That doesn't fit the subject, Josh.

Wait! Taylor, how do we know if he's really a turkey or not? We have to do the bird test...

Alright Josh, you wanna play this game with us? Fine then, we'll play along... answer this question and depending on your answer, we'll know which bird you are: do you hold your head up towards the sky when it rains?

Eldarwen said...

Do ya? Do ya? Huh? Huh? Huh?

Vellvin said...

Our family loves that movie!
Love,
Vellvin.

Taylor said...

Well, Josh, don't you have an answer?! First you insult us, then you chicken out. Or, maybe you turkeyed out. LOL

Josh $ said...

*cough*cough* like i said, I don't check replied comments every hour! XD lol! and yes, taylor, I definetly turkeyed out, not chickened! haha
Eldarwen: It depends. I hold my face up to the sky when im happyfull (XD). When im sad, i hold my face down. If that's somehow possible...lol

Eldarwen said...

*taps chin* So he is a turkey! I knew it! lol =D

Okay, this has lasted long enough, right, Josh? Right, Taylor? Josh, how 'bout a truce... :)

Taylor said...

TRUCE!? I am NOT negotiating with a turkey! Are you NUTS?

Josh $ said...

Ok, now I'm a squirrel?! :P
*waving white flag of surrender*
I am perfectly fine with negotiating with chickens.
XD
Josh

Eldarwen said...

*gasp* He just called us chickens!!! =0 How rude!!!!
Josh: who are you calling a chicken? You're a turkey which is worse than being a chicken. Turkey's are bred just to end up on someone's table on Thanksgiving, chickens are well taken care of and... okay, we get eaten a lot, but at least it's not just once a year. See? They like us more! haha :P Oops, I guess this comment kinda "rules out" my truce. Okay, seriously, truce? We are not chickens and...*struggles*...you... *struggles*... arenotaturkey! There I said it. *breaths heavily and wipes forehead* So, what do ya say? *holds out hand*

Eldarwen said...

p.s.
no one said you were a squirrel... :/

Taylor said...

Well, I said he was nuts, so I guess he got it from that comment. But NOW I'm calling him a squirrel! And I will not forgive him for calling us CHICKENS! NEVER!
NEVER!

Taylor said...

Oh Josh, and in case I'm confusing you, Elindira Evenstar and me are the same person, I just forgot to sign out of my other profile. I just felt like I should tell you, since turkey-squirrels aren't too bright, I've heard. LOL

Eldarwen said...

Good one, Taylor! LOL =D
Oh, goodness, I can't call a truce. Teasing him is waaaaay too much fun!!! lol =D

Taylor said...

Yes, it is! I totally agree. BUT I REFUSE TO SAY THAT I AM A CHICKEN!

Josh $ said...

Ok, I'm officially retreating out of this commenting section! Lol! Too much intimidation! Too much peer pressure! XD

Josh

Eldarwen said...
