The Blide Side Review

THE BLIND SIDE

The movie is about a young, colored boy named Michael Oher who was orphaned when he was little. Everyone calls him "big mike" because he's big. The Touhys pick up Mike off the street one night when seeing him walking in the cold by himself. He stays the night at their house and ends up living with them. He gets into football and is super, super good. Every college around the US wanted him. Mike grew up in a town that wasn't very well off and had a lot of drug addicts. His mom was one and she had several different children, all with several different men (yikes). The Touhys adopt Mike and give him a wonderful home. Don't worry guys, it's NOT a chick-flick. It's rated PG-13 for a scene involving brief violence (Esara, 12, and Caldirwen, 10, saw it so it's not too bad) and sexual references. Also, (not that it's rated based on this) the mom doesn't dress very appropriate (ya know, basically half-naked). :/ But, the movie itself is only good because of the story, not because of the movie. Well, Jillian, I hope that answered your question. :) Ya know what's funny? Mike Oher is playing football (he plays with the Baltimore Ravens) right now, as I type (we're watching it on TV) against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Funny, right?!?! Did anybody watch it?!?! G'night everyone! <3

P.S. it's a true story :)

I havent seen it, but it was plastered all over Playlist. com *grins* So it's good?
How bad are the sexual references?

Well, Mike goes back to the town he grew up in (with the gangs and drug adicts) and one guy there is asking him about the family he's living with. Mike tells him about the mom, dad, brother and teenage sister. Then the guy starts referring to the girl in a sexual way. It wasn't too bad, but it definitely could've been left out of the movie. Don't you just hate it when they do that? :)

Lots of love & bunches of hugs,

Sounds interesting. I'll have to see it sometime. p.s. You have GOT to change your header font. It looks pretty cool, but it is almost impossible to read. -Seth

Thanks Eldarwen! I had heard it was about a mentally retarded boy overcoming something and then I heard someone else say that it was about a football player. Anyway, I was just curious.

PS I think your header font is fine,

Are you talking about the font on my post title and sidebar? I put up a poll. :)

~Bleah~
Yes, it was a beautiful song! I like Leland, Hawk Nelson, Switchfoot and Kutless, so I'd probably like them. :)

~Jillian~
You're welcome. No, Mike is not retarded, so that person might have been confusing it with another movie. :)

Thanks for following my blog! Yes, it is cool!

Our friends were *just* telling us about this! Interesting to hear that your point of view is the same as theirs. Their children are young (all 11 and under) and none of them saw it.
